Shauna moved to Crestone in 2001 from British Columbia, Canada. She built a home with her husband in Crestone in 2005 and returned to school in 2008 to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lesley University and Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling with a special endorsement in School Counseling from Adams State University. Shauna graduated from Adams State University in 2012 and earned her license as a school counselor in 2017.
Before coming to CCS, she worked for three years with the Monte Vista School District, first to help with truancy prevention using restorative practices, and then as a school counselor in an alternative high school. She has served in a variety of positions in Crestone over the past 15 years, and she is delighted to have the opportunity to work at CCS. Having grown up in a small community, Shauna appreciates the blessings and challenges that come with living 'at the end of the road'.
Her work as a school counselor is inspired by her love of nature, passion for learning, and belief in a life-long journey of growth, discovery, and awakening.
